Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of Resolutions of the Board of Trustees of the Township of Johnston, Ohio, passed on May 15, 2017 and on June 12, 2017, Resolutions Nos. 2017-078 and 2017-088 respectively, there will be submitted to a vote of the people of said subdivision at a general election to be held in said Township at the regular places of voting therein, on the 7th day of November, 2017, the question of levying a tax, in excess of the ten-mill limitation, for the benefit of said Township, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Sections 5705.03, 5705.19(I) and 5705.192, for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances, buildings or sites therefore, or sources of water supply and materials therefore, or the establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, or the payment of permanent, part-time or volunteer firemen or fire fighting companies to operate the same, including the payment of firemen employer's contribution required for under section 742.34 of the Revised Code or to purchase ambulance equipment, or to provide ambulance or emergency medical services operated by a fire department or fire fighting company.
Said tax being a replacement tax at a rate not exceeding 2.5 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.25 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a continuing period of time, commencing in January 2017, first due in calendar year 2018.
The polls for said Election will be open at 6:30 a.m. and remain open until 7:30 p.m. of said day.
