Chocolay Township
The Charter
Township of
Chocolay in
Marquette County, Michigan seeks an experienced and proficient individual to fill the position of Township Assessor. Chocolay Township has a population of 6,000. The 2016
assessment roll
included 3,781
parcels, 3,332 real property (approximately 3,000
structures), 158
personal property, & 12 CFR/CFA parcels (approximately 813 acres). Total 2016 taxable value was $202,692,352.

The Assessor is responsible for the appraisal of all
agricultural, commercial, industrial, residential, and
personal property in the Township, preparation and maintenance of all tax records, certification of all a
ssessment and tax rolls, and preparation of assessment evidence for the Board of Review and Michigan Tax Tribunal. Minimum requirements
include a high school diploma with thorough understanding of real estate appraisal principles, laws, and regulations,
Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO) certification conferred through the Michigan Department of Treasury, 3 years' experience as an assessor or appraiser, and a valid driver's license.
Experience with GIS mapping, BS&A.Net, Apex, and Microsoft Office software is a plus.

This is a full-time
